It’s Hot in Herrr

I sit here writing on one of the hottest days of the year–it supposedly reached 92° today and I couldn’t be happier…that is, if I wasn’t sick. Our apartment thermometer is at around 80° right now (inside) and I have a 99.9° fever. Awesome, yes? I seriously wish I wasn’t sick on one of the most beautiful days of the year. You guys didn’t stop by to hear me complain though, right? Instead of me rambling about my current misery, I will show you some more film photos I have been taking out and about.

Brandon and I had dinner on the roof to escape the heat of our apartment. It was glorious! The “ghost” in the righthand corner is due to me forgetting that I hadn’t wound my film. Whoopsies. That’s called exposing your roll…lesson learned. For now.

Here are some of the film photos I took over the weekend…

Claire kept going to sit on this rock and then demanding “picture? picture?” although she’d never smile for the camera. Apparently she was going more for a contemplative look…

As evidenced in a few of these photos, Brandon and Claire were quite the little buddies at the beach.

Little man stayed in the shade, but seemed to enjoy the beach…

Thanks to Grandma for having a birthday (in August, no less) that allowed us to have this incredible weekend!

This weekend Brandon and I escaped for a quick trip to Lake Tahoe to hang with the family and celebrate my Grandmother’s birthday. It was a splendid time–lots of beach time, playing in the sand, beach bbq, family…what more could you ask for (aside from more time)? I shot mostly film this weekend, so there will be a lot more photos as long as they turn out. For now, here are some photos of our time…

I had made flags as decorations, but Claire thought they were much better as a part of her parade than stuck in the ground.

The previous post would have gotten WAY too long had I included my pictures of Claire, so I decided to dedicate one to her alone.

Claire is growing up so quickly and becoming quite the little talker. Mixed in with a lot of general “babytalk” (i.e. noises and sounds that aren’t yet words), Claire has mastered quite a few words and animal noises. Thanks to a few of her books, she knows what sounds ducks, dogs, cats, elephants, lions, monkeys, and chickens make, along with a few others. It’s quite adorable to hear her answer when you ask her what a kitty says (“meooooow”).

She also enjoys saying “hiiiiiiiiii” to everyone, as well as “snow? snow!” when she looked outside, as well as when she saw someone gearing up to go outside. She’d also say “side?” when she wanted to go out. She’s long mastered “up!” but will occasionally even add a “peease (please)”. While the process of gearing up wasn’t fun, the moment she got in the snow all her cares were forgotten. She also had a permagrin while on the sled–she would have been happy getting pulled around all day.

Claire loves singing, and getting others to sing. Sometimes she’ll start a song, prompting you to join in with her. She also liked to come over and play with my phone, pushing buttons and looking at pictures. She’d walk over and meow, indicating she wanted to see pictures of Ben and Stuart. How cute is that?

It has been such a joy to see this little girl grow and change, and I’m looking forward to meeting Jen’s next baby and seeing him/her grow and change and interact with Claire. How could I not be a proud aunt of this little face?

Tahoe Getaway

This weekend Brandon and I joined the family for a weekend in Tahoe for a snowy getaway. It was a beautiful weekend of snow shoeing, sledding, and for some skiing.

tahoe part iii–a morning packing up at th cabin and a long car ride home (due to traffic). claire was sporting her cute “prance” speesees outfit i bought her before she was even born. we actually had a lot of fun in the car, singing to the “newsies” soundtrack, playing with claire, and laughing at her giggling while my sister sang “sweet caroline” to her.

saturday after the afternoon hike and nap, we headed to the beach for some afternoon sun and cocktails. it was lovely! claire splashed her feet in the water and found a little watering can to play with. she liked picking up the sand, but we had to be attentive so she didn’t eat it.

tahoe, part ii – angora lakes

so saturday we decided to do a mini-hike to angora lakes for a relaxed afternoon of outdoors time. you “hike” in and arrive at a little serene lake with cabins along one side. it was extremely relaxing and serene! we even rented a kayak and took turns touring the little lake.

tahoe weekend, part i

this last weekend i went to tahoe with my parents, sister, brother-in-law, claire, brandon and lola. it was a short trip, but we had a really great time!

friday we drove up in a crowded car–4 adults, 1 baby, and 1 dog in a sedan. here are some pics from day 1–the car ride, which was filled with the many faces of claire.

the post will be brief, since i’m exhausted, but we just came back from a beautiful (snow-filled) weekend in lake tahoe. it was a long car ride there and back, but well worth it! the details will come later, but for now a few pictures.
